Conventional solar cells generally have a structure with EVA material and cells in the middle of two layers of glass. Such components are heavy and require brackets during installation, making them difficult to move. Flexible thin-film solar cells do not need glass backsheets and cover sheets, and are 80% lighter than double-layer glass solar cell modules. Flexible cells with pvc backsheets and ETFE film cover sheets can even be bent arbitrarily, making them easy to carry.
