(1) Battery voltage

The nominal voltage of each cell of a lead-acid battery is 2V, and the actual voltage varies with the charging and discharging conditions. At the end of charging, the voltage is 2.5-2.7V, and then slowly drops to a stable state of about 2.05V. When discharging, the voltage drops slowly, and when it is as low as 1.7V, it cannot continue to discharge, otherwise the plates of the battery will be damaged.

(2) The capacity of the storage battery

The capacity of the battery is the amount of electricity that the battery can provide when the voltage of a single cell drops to the specified value under a certain discharge current and a certain electrolyte temperature specified at the time of delivery. It is generally expressed in ampere hours (A.h) or watt hours (W.h). At present, the capacity of lead-acid battery products can range from 1 ampere hour to thousands or even tens of thousands of ampere hours.

The nominal capacity of the battery depends not only on the battery itself, but also on the conditions of use.

①Relationship between battery capacity and discharge rate. The discharge rate of the same battery is different, and the given capacity is also different. The discharge rate has two different representation methods: hourly rate (time rate) and current rate (magnification rate).

A. Hour rate (time rate): refers to the time required to discharge the rated capacity with a certain current.

If a certain 12V storage battery is discharged at 2A and dropped to 10.5V in 5 hours, the capacity will be

C5 =2Ax5h=10A.h

For the same storage battery, if it is discharged at 1.2A and dropped to 10.5V in 10 hours, the capacity will be

C10=1.2Ax10h=12A.h

The former is called 5h discharge rate, which is represented by C5; the latter is called 10h discharge rate, which is represented by C10, and the subscript of C is the hourly rate.
